ASRock recently released a micro-ATX version of their LGA 1151 Z170 OC Formula motherboard – the ASRock Z170M OC Formula. This black and yellow motherboard is geared towards enthusiasts and overclockers. ASRock Z170M OC Formula Specs and Features
Like many of ASRock’s latest motherboards, specially the OC series, the ASRock Z170M OC Formula features the company’s Super Alloy components soldered on a 10 layer PCB. It supports the latest 6th generation Intel Core processors for Socket LGA 1151 and DDR4 dual channel up to 4500+ OC speed.
The Z170M OC Formula features a premium 60A power choke with dual-stack MOSFET (DSM), a 14 power phase design, Digi power and combo caps. The company has also integrated Hyper BCLK Engine for the overclockers and Nichicon 12K platinum caps with premium memory alloy choke. Another interesting feature for the overclockers is the CPU cold bug killer which prevents the system from crashing due to extremely low temperature while using liquid nitrogen for cooling. There’s also an onboard XMP switch so that you don’t have to enter BIOS just to enable the XMP profile. Aside from the XMP switch, there’s also an onboard on/off, reset, Rapid OC, PCIe on/off, LN2 Mode switch, Slow Mode switch, and V-probe.
It has three PCIe 3.0 x16 slots supporting AMD CrossFireX and NVIDIA SLI. It also has an onboard 7.1 CH HD Audio via Realtek ALC1150 Audio codec and supports Purity Sound 3 & DTS connect. In terms of connectivity options, the ASRock Z170M OC Formula features Intel Gigabyte LAN, 8x SATA III ports, 2 SATA Express ports, 1x Ultra M.2 slot, 2x USB 3.1 ports (Type A and Type C) and a number of USB 3.0/2.0 ports.
