Just recently, partial specifications and BIOS information of the upcoming Asus Radeon R9 270X DirectCU II R9270X-DC2T-2GD5, Asus Radeon R9 280X DirectCU II TOP R9280X-DC2T-2GD5, and Asus Radeon R9 ROG Matrix MATRIX-R9280X-3GD5 were revealed. ASUS ROG MATRIX R9 280X Platinum

The ASUS Radeon R9 270X DirectCU II TOP (R9270X-DC2T-2GD5) is most probably a rebrand of the previous Tahiti chip, or might be using CURACAO XT. But one thing is for sure, that it will feature 2GB GDDR5 memory in a 256-bit memory interface, with clock speeds of around 1400MHz (5.6GHz effective speed). And since this is a DirectCU II TOP model, the GPU will have a slightly overclocked speed of 1120MHz, making it a little bit faster than the reference card.

According to AMD, the R9 270X will have a $199 price point. Expect that the Asus R9 270X DirectCU II TOP will have a higher price than the $199 reference card.

Meanwhile, the ASUS Radeon R9 280X DirectCU II TOP (R9280X-DC2T-3GD5) will a clock speed of 970MHz/1070MHz. It will also have a higher memory clock speed of 1600MHz and will have a 6400MHz effective speed.

The GPU is paired with a 3GB GDDR5 memory in a 384-bit memory interface. And since the the R9 280X will have a $299 price point, expect that the ASUS 29 280X DirectCU II TOP will be (slightly) priced higher than the reference card. Both the card mentioned above will become available starting October 8, 2013. Expect to see press releases by then and probably real tests and benchmarks as well.

Asus is also reported that they are working on a new ASUS Radeon R9 280X Matrix (MATRIX-R9280X-3GD5), that might feature a new cooler design. According to source, the R9 280X MATRIX will have clock speed of 950MHZ/1100MHz, which is a little bit faster than the DirectCU II TOP version. But it will have the same memory speed of 6400MHz with the TOP version.

No information when as to when will the ASUS Radeon R9 280X MATRIX will be released, or information regarding its price as well.
