Corsair Neutron NX500 NVMe PCIe SSD (Add-in-Card) Released – Available in 400GB and 800GB Capacities

The Corsair Neutron NX500 NVMe PCIe SSD add-in-card surfaced recently. Corsair hasn’t officially announced this storage drive (yet), or this is probably one of those quietly-launched products on the market. However, the new Corsair Nuetron NX500 is a very fast storage solution, offering speeds of up to 3GB/s sequential write speed and up to 2.4GB/s sequential write speeds. It’s also available in two capacities, the NX500 400GB and NX500 800GB. This is a PCIe add-in-card, so you’ll need an extra PCIe slot for the drive. Currently, it is listed with a retail price of $320 for the 400GB and $700 for the 800GB capacity. Additional information below.

Corsair Neutron NX500 NVMe PCIe SSD

The Corsair Neutron NX500 features an NVMe PCIe interface that is significantly faster than a SATA 6Gbps interface (about 5x faster). The shroud isn’t only for aesthetics purposes but it also acts as a heatsink, cooling the NAND flash and the controller.

The Corsair Neutron NX500 uses a multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash chips and supports features such as enhanced error correction that improves data retention; static and dynamic wear-leveling to increase lifespan; and advanced garbage collection supporting over-provisioning, secure wipe, disk cloning and firmware updates. The said drive is also compatible with Corsair’s SSD Toolbox that monitors S.M.A.R.T. attributes and overall SSD health status.

The drive consumes around 0.5 watts on idle; 5.57W on read and 7.27W on write. Operating temperature is around 0°C ~ +70°C; and has an operating humidity of 90% RH. The NX500 measures 183mm x 22mm x 12mm and weighs at 0.62 lb. More details from the specs table below.
