2nd. Generation AMD Ryzen Processors Released – See Specifications, Price and Availability

If you have been checking the latest news about AMD’s new Ryzen CPUs, I’m pretty sure you are aware that AMD will be releasing their 2nd generation Ryzen processors this month; including the new X470 motherboards. There were several leaks, including review leaks, that we saw these past few days; thanks to some media getting samples ahead of launch date. Today, AMD has officially announced the AMD Ryzen 7 2700(X) and Ryzen 5 2600(X) processors; including the new AMD X470 chipset for the new X470 motherboards. The Ryzen 7 2700(X) CPUs are an 8-core, 16-threads processors with a boost clock speed of up to 4.3GHz for the 2700X model. Meanwhile, the Ryzen 5 2600(X) CPUs features 6-core, 12-threads and up to 4.2GHz of boost clock speed for the 2600X model. The Ryzen 7 2700X will come with an MSRP of $329, while the lowest in this batch (the Ryzen 5 2600) will be priced at $199. All CPU models will come with a stock CPU cooler and will be available starting April 19, 2018.

The AMD Ryzen 7 2700X CPU PIB includes the new Wraith Prism cooler, which offers improved thermal performance over the Wraith Max, a more compatible fan profile, and enhanced lighting capabilities with per-RGB controls.

All 2nd gen AMD Ryzen desktop processors are supported by the new AMD X470 chipset, the most advanced, optimized, and efficient chipset to-date for socket AM4. This chipset comes with a free download of the new AMD StoreMI storage acceleration technology to combine the speed of an SSD with the capacity of a hard drive into a single, fast, easy-to-manage drive.

Motherboards with the AMD X470 chipset will launch alongside the 2nd gen Ryzen desktop processors, with designs available from top manufacturers including ASRock, ASUS, Gigabyte, and MSI. Compatible with all current AM4 processors, the new X470 motherboards augment the existing 300-series motherboards, which are also compatible with the new 2nd gen Ryzen processors after a simple firmware (BIOS) update is installed. Many motherboards in market are already coming with the updated BIOS, indicated by a “Ryzen Desktop 2000 Ready” label on the package.

For customers eagerly waiting for 2nd gen Ryzen desktop processors, etailers around the world are primed to begin taking pre-orders beginning April 13, at 9 a.m. EDT. On-shelf availability for these 2nd generation AMD Ryzen Desktop Processors is expected on April 19.
