Early this year, AMD announced that they will be releasing a unique Zen3 CPU that features AMD’s 3D V-cache. Today, AMD announces the pricing and release date of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D. In addition, AMD also announced 6 “new” processors: Ryzen 7 5700X, Ryzen 5 5600 and 5500; Ryzen 5 4600G, 4500, and Ryzen 3 4100. These are Zen 3 and Zen 2 refresh CPUs. Finally, AMD has entry-level to mid-level CPUs that may be able to compete with Intel’s Core i3 and Core i5 lineup. Check out more details below.
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D – The “Worlds Fastest Gaming CPU”
According to AMD, the upcoming Ryzen 7 5800X3D is the world’s fastest gaming CPU, rivaling Intel’s latest 12th gen Core i9-12900K processor. Of course, we’ll have to wait for reviews to confirm AMD’s claim when it comes to gaming. It is the first Ryzen processor to feature AMD 3D V-Cache technology. According to AMD, with the 3D V-cache, the 5800X3D can deliver up to 15% more gaming performance compared to CPUs with the traditional cache.
Ryzen 7 5800X3D Price and Release Date
The Ryzen 7 5800X3D features 8 cores and 16 threads with a base clock speed of 3.4GHz and a boost clock speed of 4.5GHz. It has a 64MB + 32MB total cache and a TDP of 105W. It will be on-shelf globally starting April 20, 2022, with a SEP of $449 USD.
AMD Ryzen 5000 Zen 3 Refresh CPUs – From $159 to $299
In addition to the 5800X3D, AMD announces 6 new processors. These are refresh processors from the Ryzen 5000 Zen 3 lineup and Ryzen 4000 Zen 2 series. First is the Ryzen 7 5700X, an 8-core 16-thread processor with a boost clock speed of up to 4.6GHz. It has a TDP of 65W and is priced at $299 USD.
Next are the Ryzen 5 5600 and Ryzen 5 5500. Both processors feature 6 cores and 12 threads with a boost clock speed of up to 4.4GHz and 4.2GHz respectively. The difference between the two is that the 5600 has more cache of 35MB, while the 5500 only has 19MB of total cache. Both are priced at $199 and $159 respectively.
AMD Ryzen 4000 Zen 2 Refresh CPUs – From $99 to $154
Interestingly, Zen 2 CPUs are not discontinued yet, instead, some are refreshed. The new lineup consists of Ryzen 5 4600G with AMD Radeon graphics, Ryzen 5 4500, and Ryzen 3 4100. Both the Ryzen 5 4600G and 4500 are 6-core 12-thread processors with 11MB of cache. The difference is the 4600G comes with an iGPU and boosts up to 4.2 GHz.
Meanwhile, the Ryzen 3 4100 is a 4-core 8-thread CPU with a boost clock speed of up to 4GHz. All three processors have a 65W TDP and come with a Wraith Stealth cooler.
In addition to these exciting new processor releases, AMD announced it is extending support for Ryzen 5000 Series processors on AMD 300 Series chipsets, including all the new desktop processors announced today. The latest AMD Ryzen 5000 Series processors will be supported on AMD X370, B350, and A320 chipsets, offering a seamless upgrade path to “Zen 3” performance. Selective BETA BIOS updates are expected to become available in April.
