ASRock Fatal1ty Z97X Killer Motherboard
The ASRock Fatal1ty Z97X Killer features 8 Power Phase Design with Digi Power, Premium Gold Caps, and a new stylish red heatsink to cool the MOSFETs and other components beneath it. There are 4x DDR3 DIMM slots that will probably support memory speeds of up to 3000MHz (OC). There are no voltage points but there are lots of fan headers, USB headers and an Audio header.
The Fatal1ty Z97X draws its power from a single 8pin power connector with a standard 24 ATX power connector. There are two BIOS chips, 4x SATA 6Gbps ports and a SATA Express port, an M.2 PCIE slot for NGFF SSD, 3x PCIE 3.0 x16 slots and 3x PCIE 3.0 x1 slots. There is also a 4 pin molex connector below the last PCIE x16 slot, for additional power when doing 3-Way CrossFireX or SLI multi-GPU configurations. The board also features Killer E2200 Gigabit Ethernet port prioritizing gaming connections and the latest Purity Sound 2 audio core with EMI shielding.

Now let’s take a look at its little brother, the ASRock Fatal1ty Z97 Killer gaming motherboard. The Falal1ty Z97 Killer looks like a trim down version of the Z97X variant. The board supports only 2 Way SLI and CrossFire since it only has 2x PCIE 3.0 x16 slots. There are 2x PCIE 3.0 x1 slots and two PCI legacy slots as well. It looks like the board has two BIOS chips and features the same Killer E2200 Gigabit LAN port and Purity Sound 2 Audio core.
The Fatal1ty Z97 Killer has 4x SATA 6Gbps port and a SATA Express port, and an M.2 PCIE NGFF SSD port as well. It has also the same rear I/O panel layout with the Z97X Killer, but has only 4x USB3.0 ports instead of 6x USB 3.0 on the Z97X variant.
The ASRock Fatal1ty Z97X Killer and Z97 Killer are expected to be officially announced on Mar 10 (or after), together with the rest of ASRock’s Z97 motherboards. Expect that more motherboards from ASRock based on Intel 9 Series chipset will be announced on a later date.
