Asus ROG Flow Z13 (2023) Gaming Tablet/Laptop Now Available – Features 13th Gen Core i9 CPU and RTX 40 Laptop GPU

Last week, Asus released the ROG Flow Z13-ACRNM RMT-02. It’s a 2-in-1 mobile gaming device that can be used as a tablet or a laptop. It packs a 13th gen Intel Core i9 13900H CPU and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 laptop GPU. The said product is a collaboration between Asus ROG and ACRONYM. However, it’s one expensive gaming tablet/laptop with an MSRP of $2,500. Fortunately, Asus released a “cheaper” version – the ROG Flow Z13 (2023) GZ301. It is still powered by a Core i9-13900H CPU but with a less powerful mobile GPU. If you’re looking for a gaming tablet / portable laptop, continue reading below and find out if the ROG Flow Z13 is for you.

Asus ROG Flow Z13 (2023) – A Gaming Tablet and Laptop In One Device

Right off the bat, the ROG Flow Z13 features Intel’s latest 13th gen Core processors, with up to an Intel Core i9-13900H. Accompanying the CPU is NVIDIA’s latest RTX 40 series laptop GPU. But the vanilla ROG Flow Z13 is only available with an RTX 4050 laptop GPU (65W) or RTX 4060 laptop GPU (65W). Although, I have yet to see the latter model listed on popular retailers.

Display, Memory and Storage

The ROG Flow Z13 sports a 13.4-inch IPS ROG Nebula Display, with a resolution of 2560×1600 and a refresh rate of 165Hz. I’m unsure if it’s the same ROG Nebula Display that Asus used on some of its best RTX 4090 gaming laptops. Or perhaps of the same quality, but one thing is for sure, the display is smaller (13.4″), and the refresh rate is only 165Hz.

Unlike a full-pledge gaming laptop, the ROG Flow Z13 only has up to 16GB of LPDDR5 memory. And storage-wise, it only has 1TB of PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD 2230. Now, the 2230 M.2 SSD is the short one. It’s similar to the Sabrent Rocket 2230 SSD that can be used on Steam Deck or NUC. The more common 2280-sized M.2 SSD will not fit in this device.

Connectivity Options

Regarding connectivity options, the Asus ROG Flow Z13 gaming tablet has some of the essential ports you may need. It has a 3.5mm combo audio jack; a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port; a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, a Thunderbolt 4 support; DisplayPort / power delivery, and a microSD UHS-II card reader. While the ROG Flow Z13 does not have an ethernet port, it does have a fast WiFi 6E (802.11ax dual-band) with Bluetooth 5.2 wireless connectivity.

Asus uses a backlit chiclet keyboard and a touchpad for input. In addition, the screen is a touch display and supports a stylus. It only has 13MP and 5MP IR cameras, so don’t expect iPhone 14 or Samsung Galaxy S23-level of quality for photo and video capture.

Battery and Dimensions

Since this is a small device, the ROG Flow Z13 comes with a 4-cell Li-ion 56Whrs 4S1P battery. I don’t know what this device’s battery life is, but according to Asus, it has a quick charging feature. Its battery can be recharged to 50% within 30 minutes under the optimal temperature range of 20-45 degrees Celsius.

Finally, this gaming tablet/laptop weighs only 2.60 lbs or 1.18 Kg, not including the power brick/charger. It also measures 11.89″ inches in length, 8.11 inches in width, and about 0.51″ to 0.56″ in thickness.

Pricing and Availability

The Asus ROG Flow Z13 gaming laptop/tablet is now available. Currently, I only see the model GZ301VU with an RTX 4050 laptop GPU listed online, with a current retail price of $1,750. We may see the GZ301VV, with RTX 4060 laptop GPU, listed later or in the following weeks. For the latest pricing and availability, kindly visit the link below. (#ad)
