Asus X99 Deluxe Motherboard Review – White Can be Sexy Too

Price and Where to Buy

The Asus X99 Deluxe is very much available now. At the time this review was published, it comes with a retail price of $382.95 and can be purchased from B&H here. It also comes with a limited 3-year warranty from the manufacturer. If you really need the USB 3.1 feature, Asus also released an updated model called Asus X99 Deluxe U3.1. It’s basically the same with the first X99 Deluxe but it comes with a USB 3.1 2-port card. It’s currently available for $389.99 at B&H here.

Asus X99 Deluxe Review: Conclusion

The Asus X99 Deluxe is definitely a feature rich and solid X99 motherboard. The system is fast, thanks to the Haswell-E processor and DDR4 memory, but quite expensive as well. If you are planning to jump into an X99 system, be sure to prepare your wallet not only for the motherboard but also for the CPU and DDR4 memory as well. X99 motherboards are not compatible with non Haswell-E CPU and DDR4 memory, and right now (at the time this review was published) DDR4 memory are just expensive (way expensive).

Aside from the long list of features this motherboard has, the white sexy looking shroud is definitely an eye candy as well. Not unless white is not your thing and you are trying to build a Black and Red themed gaming machine. Better get the Rampage V Extreme instead that  will only cost you $60 more.

If you ask me, is the Asus X99 Deluxe motherboard a recommendable and worth buy product? Yes it is and most probably it won’t disappoint you as well. But, and yes there is a “but”, it is not for everyone, specially for the weak wallets. It’s very expensive to invest on an X99 system and it will remain expensive as to not cannibalize the Z97 segment. If you are building a home server, workstation / gaming machine, and you need the horse power for your demanding tasks and application, then this motherboard (plus the other appropriate components) may be what you are looking for. But if you just want to game and most of the time your work is not that demanding, better build a Z97-based system instead.

Finally, the Asus X99 Deluxe is what a good motherboard should be, feature rich and won’t left you hanging or missing some features. I think it’s a very recommendable product, and if you have the budget, this should be included in your list.

  1. I have one, this board is still unstable, slow boot, unstable during overclocking, lot of issues during boot, ASUS support is use less, they do not accept their mistakes of producing unstable boards. I had to change 3 ASUS deluxe boards to get one stable one.

my other pc H87 Asrock boards boots in 8-10 seconds, but this one takes a whole minute, even with Samsung pro 128gb SSD.

very soon I will change this board and go for Gigabyte, MSI or ASrock

  2. I just bought the 3.1 version of this board. See lots of praise, and lots of heartache. Hope I am the former? Decided to go with x99 and 5820K instead of Z170 and Skylake i7. Hope I dont have to return it and I can OC my CPU and Ram. Got a 980 TI to go along with it. Ive built many computers, but this is my first gaming centric build. Wish me luck!
