These past few days, reports claimed that NVIDIA will announce the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti at CES 2023, with a release date of January 5. Many speculated that the “unlaunched” GeForce RTX 4080 12GB will be rebranded and released as the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti. Well, we might have evidence that the canceled RTX 4080 12GB is going to be the RTX 4070 Ti. Videocardz spotted the BattleAx GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Deluxe Edition from Colorful’s page. Interestingly, Colorful has posted most of the graphics card’s specs, and it’s similar to the RTX 4080 12GB. Check out more details below.
GeForce RTX 4070 Ti = GeForce RTX 4080 12GB
Colorful’s upcoming GeForce RTX 4070 Ti BattleAx has a similar cooler design to the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 BattleAx. Only this time, it only uses two PCI slots instead of the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 BattleAx. Although, based on its specs, it looks like the graphics card itself is still chunky and thick, with a height of 60.2mm.
I expect Colorful will release a Vulcan RTX 4070 Ti or Advanced OC variant once the RTX 4070 Ti GPU is officially launched. Interestingly, not only did Colorful publish photos of the graphics card and its features, but they also revealed most of its specifications.
Based on its specs sheet, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti uses an AD104 GPU chip with a base clock speed of 2310MHz. It has 12GB GDDR6X memory with a memory speed of 21Gbps, running on a 192-bit memory interface. Although the specs sheet didn’t reveal its CUDA cores count, all the listed specs are the specs of the canceled RTX 4080 12GB. Even the TGP, which is 285W, and recommended PSU of 700W are similar.
Another interesting detail is that Colorful’s RTX 4070 Ti will use the 16-pin 12VHPWR connector. There was a rumor that NVIDIA or AIB partners would use the old 8-pin PCIe power connector for lower GPUs. But I guess the new 16-pin PCIe power connector is the standard for all RTX 40 GPUs moving forward.
GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Pricing and Release Date
The GeForce RTX 4080 12GB was announced with an MSRP of $899. The previous GeForce RTX 3070 Ti was released with an MSRP of $599. While I doubt NVIDIA would release the RTX 4070 Ti with an MSRP of $899, there is still a possibility that NVIDIA would price it at $899, considering how they priced the RTX 4080 16GB. If they price the RTX 4070 Ti at $899, I think it would be tough selling it, just like what happened to the RTX 4080.
What do you think? What reasonable price would you be comfortable paying for an RTX 4070 Ti?
According to reports, NVIDIA will unveil the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti on January 3, and it will become available starting January 5.
