Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SOC Force Z97 Motherboard Revealed – Made For Overclockers

Gigabyte has recently revealed their upcoming Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SOC Force motherboard, together with the Gigabyte GA-Z97X-G1 Gaming G1 WiFi Black Edition. Unlike the Gaming series, the Z97X SOC Force is geared towards PC enthusiasts who love to overclock, and push the limit of PC components, whether it’s a processor, a memory or a graphics card. Let’s take a closer look at this Z97 OC motherboard below.

Gigabyte Z97X-SOC Force Z97 overclocking motherboard

The Gigabyte Z97X-SOC Force is an overclocking motherboard that features the latest Ultra Durable components and overclocking features. Like the other Z97 motherboards, it has socket LGA1150 and supports Haswell (K), Haswell Refresh (non-K), Devil’s Canyon and 5th gen Broadwell processors. In addition to the 24pin ATX power connector and 8 Pin CPU power, there is an extra 4 pin power port to add more power for overclocking stability.

This Gigabyte Z97 overclocking motherboard has 4x DDR3 DIMM slots that will most probably support high speed memory frequencies. There are also OC related button, power button, switches, LED display and some Voltage points right beside the memory slots.

The Gigabyte Z97X-SOC Force has 2x SATA Express ports and I think it has only 2x SATA 6GB/s ports. Despite having only less SATA ports, there are two onboard USB 3.0 ports. There are 4x PCIE 3.0 x16 slots, 1x PCIE 3.0 x1 slot and two legacy PCI slots. There is also an additional 6pin power connector right above the first PCIE 3.0 x16 slot. This will provide additional power for multi-GPU setup. It doesn’t have a Sound Core chip, but there is an EMI shielding, the LED path that goes from the audio ports down to the F_AUDIO port below.

Although, this Z97 motherboard can be used for gaming (including extreme gaming) purposes, primarily it’s targeted for overclockers and could probably handle liquid Nitrogen cooling as well. The Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SOC Force is expected to be officially announced together with other Z97 motherboards this coming May.
