Intel Core i9-10850K Available at Newegg – Next Best Option to i9-10900K

In case you missed it, the Intel Core i9-10850K is now available at Newegg.com here. This is the next best option to the i9-10900K. Well, there are other variants like the i9-10900KF and i9-10900. But the problem is the i9-10900KF doesn’t have an iGPU and the i9-10900 is a locked CPU. Not to mention, all these 10900(K/F)s are basically either out of stock or sold at an insane price of ~$800 USD. Currently, the Core i9-10850K is selling for around ~$499.99. It’s still a bit expensive, but better than the selling price of the i9-10900K.

Intel Core i9-10850K Same Cores and Threads and Only 100MHz Slower vs 10900K

The subheading above basically summarizes what the Core i9-10850K is. It features the same core and thread count as the Core i9-10900K, which is 10 cores and 20 threads. But the clock speeds of the 10850K are just 100MHz slower. I’m not sure why Intel bothered to release a 10850K part. Both the 10900K and 10850K are similar on paper, and the only difference is the 100MHz clock speed and the price.

On Intel’s presentation below, the suggested pricing of the 10850K per 1,000 units is $453. But in reality, it’s currently selling for around $499.99. In contrast, the Core i9-10900K is selling for around $550 to $650 USD. And sadly some retailers even have the nerve to sell it at an insane price of ~$800 USD.

So, if you look at it, the Core i9-10850K is the next best thing you can get if you want a 10-core, 20-thread CPU from Intel. The Intel Core i7-10700K is also a good option. Especially if you are gaming and working on the same system. If you want to learn more about the i7-10700K, you can check out our review here.

Intel Core i9-10850K Specifications

I don’t have a 10850K yet to test, so I am curious about what’s the real deal with this CPU. Are they binned differently compared to the 10900K? Do they not overclock well compared to the 10900K? I am hoping to get one on my hands to test it out.

Either way, I don’t think the difference is that huge. A 100MHz doesn’t make a noticeable difference in real-world use. Unless you benchmark both systems side by side and look at the numbers. However, the i9-10850K is expected to be faster than the i7-10700K thanks to its 2 more physical cores and 4 more threads.

Anyway, if you are interested to get one, the Intel Core i9-10850K is available on Newegg.com here. You might want to decide fast as I expect that this will run out fast as well.
