KLEVV Genuine DDR3 Memory Review: 8GB Dual Channel at 2666MHz

Price and Where to Buy

The KLEVV Genuine DDR3 memory kits are now available. At the time I published this review, the retail price of the Genuine DDR3-2666 8GB (2x4GB) is $174.99 USD.

KLEVV Genuine DDR3 Memory Review: Conclusion

Honestly, I was not expecting that a new company will come out and release a new DDR3 memory product to compete with the existing lineup we see in the market. If you take a look at the current DDR3 market, it is already dominated by the likes of G.Skill, Corsair, and even Kingston. They offer a wide range of product ranging from entry level memory, memory for the gamers and even DDR3 memory for the enthusiasts and overclockers. However, Essencore didn’t enter the memory market with half-baked products and that’s actually a good thing. Essencore unleashed their Klevv memory lineup with the Genuine and Urbane that are geared towards the enthusiasts and gamers, and the Neo for those who are on a budget. They entered the market prepared and have loaded their lineup with design, features and performance that could compete.

Now let’s go back to the performance, honestly it’s not the fastest memory I have seen. But it’s not the slowest either. Running at 2400MHz, it was already competing with Kingston’s HyperX Beast. At the time when I tested the Genuine, unfortunately I didn’t have any Dominator Platinum or G.Skill Trident X to compare it with. But the good thing I saw in this memory is that I was able to easy overclock it further, higher than its 2666MHz rated speed. If you look at the benchmark results, the Klevv Genuine was running at its best when clocked at 2800MHz. Overclocking it further didn’t resulted in a much better performance. I was able to push it higher than 2933MHz, but the read/write performance suffered significantly. I will need more time for this to test it higher than 3000MHz. But like I said, I think there’s no point of running it further than 3000MHz since at 2933MHz the results didn’t improved any further.

Klevv Genuine DDR3 Review-18

I like the looks of the Klevv Genuine DDR3. Its design is really stylish and elegant looking. But there is only one thing that got me disappointment, and it’s with the material used in the heat spreader design. It’s not totally made out of alunimum or metal. The silvery portion you see is made out of plastic. Essencore why?! In my opinion, it would look much better if they opted to use an all-aluminum design. And it will not only add more area for heat dissipation, but will also add to the rigidity or durability of the memory. The Genuine memory kits do come with a premium price tag, and honestly I was expecting an all-aluminum heat spreader and not just a combination of aluminum and plastic. The Klevv Urbane has an all-aluminum heatsink, why not the Genuine which is the flagship of the line up? Even the competition at this price range uses an all-aluminum material. I hope it’s not too late yet to make revisions with the materials used.

At the end of the day, I don’t think that the Klevv Genuine DDR3 memory is a bad product. In fact it hasn’t disappointed me in terms of performance. I really like the fresh new look and the stylish design (except for the plastic parts). I was also happy to see that it can easily be pushed further above its rated speed. I haven’t tried the lower speeds, but if the 1600 or the 1866 can also be easily pushed further, I think the Genuine DDR3-1866 memory kit is the better deal. Finally, if you appreciate the design and if you have to money to spend, I don’t have any problems recommending the Klevv Genuine. It’s a new product from a new company that recently entered the market, but it’s definitely a competitive product. If not for the plastic material, it would have earned the Editor’s Choice award. For now, it will have to settle with a Highly Recommended award.
