Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold Now Available – See Features, Specs and Price

After five years in the making, Lenovo finally releases the ThinkPad X1 Fold. It’s a unique device that is said to be more than just a laptop or tablet. According to Lenovo, “the best way to describe X1 Fold is that it is the chameleon of personal computing devices, adapting to its environment”. It’s powered an Intel Core Hybrid 5-Core CPU and features a 13″ OLED touchscreen display with pen support. The ThinkPad X1 Fold is now available to (pre) order here. You can check out the rest of its features and specifications below.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold – “Wold’s First Foldable PC”

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold is a unique product and perhaps first of its kind. The company has strongly pointed out in their marketing materials and presentation that the “X1 Fold is NOT a laptop“. According to Lenovo, “it has not been designed to be a “catch-all” device for everybody. It’s a concept that illustrates the future of computing and offers a window to the potential that such a category can fulfil.

If you’re thinking it’s similar to the Microsoft Surface Duo, well, that product is quite different even though they are both (technically) foldable PCs. Perhaps, a more similar device to the X1 Fold is the Samsung Galaxy Fold Z 2. But the X1 Fold runs on Windows, and it’s more powerful and versatile than the Fold Z 2 – an android mobile phone device.

The ThinkPad X1 Fold features a 13″ touchscreen OLED display, with a resolution of 1536×2048. It’s powered by an Intel Core i5-L16G7 5-core processor with Integrated Intel UHD Graphics, paired with an 8GB LPDDR4X memory. For storage, you can choose from 256GB up to 1TB of PCIe SSD. It also comes with an IR and 5MP HD camera.

It doesn’t have a built-in keyboard since it is a touchscreen device; but you can pair it with one of Lenovo’s Bluetooth keyboard. An optional Lenovo Mod Pen is also supported and available as an added accessory.

When it comes to connectivity, it has the latest Intel WiFi 6 AX200 802.11AX and Bluetooth 5.1. There’s also an optional 5G/LTE configuration (via Nano SIM) if you needed mobile data on the go. For wired connection, it has two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports with support for a USB 3.0 Type-C docking station (sold separately).

The ThinkPad X1 Fold has a 50Whr battery that is said to last up to 8.5 hours to 10.4 hours depending on the use. The battery also features rapid charge technology. Finally, this unique device weighs only 2.2 lbs or 999 grams.

Pricing and Availability

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold is now available to pre-order and starts at $2,499 USD. Also, optional accessories such as the Bluetooth Mini Fold Keyboard; Lenovo Mod Pen; and the Lenovo Easel Stand are available as well. The price depends on the configuration or specs of the X1 Fold.
