MSI GeForce RTX 2080 DUKE 8G OC Review – Fast and Silent

MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Duke 8G OC – Monster Hunter World Benchmarks

Monster Hunter World is one of my favorite games released this year. It’s not the most visually eye-pleasing game released, but the graphics is pretty decent and the game is fun to play with overall. I do hope Capcom would release an HD / Hi-Res texture pack for this game. Or hopefully implement DLSS and/or ray tracing as well. This game deserves more and better graphics quality and effects. Monster Hunter World doesn’t have an in-game benchmark tool. But I am using one of the game’s cutscene, “Asteria”, to benchmark the MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Duke 8G OC. Below are the results I got with this graphics card:

Now we see the MSI RTX 2080 Duke slightly beating the RTX 2080 Founders Edition. And both RTX 2080s are also faster than the GTX 1080 Ti; although, by only a few frames per second. Up next is the new Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

  1. Have you heard any reports of “noise” coming from these cards? And I don’t mean just when they are under load from gaming; I mean noise while idle. There is a somewhat loud, and definitely obnoxious noise from my Duke OC, and I have no idea what would be causing it; I do know that my PC was not noisy to any extent before I got this card. The only time there would be noise would be if I ramp up the case fans’ speed using the adjuster dial on the case. But ever since I installed that Duke, from probably a week or so after I got it, it has been making this noise; I can’t describe it, either.

    • You won a 2080? That’s cool! Not sure what’s the current pricing due to the current (shortage/scalping) situation, but you can check local pricing for reference.
