Zotac MEK HERO G1 AMD Prebuilt Gaming PC with RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 GPU

Zotac recently released a new line of prebuild gaming PC – the Zotac MEK HERO G1 series. Unlike the previous MEK series, the new HERO G1 series doesn’t look aggressive in design. And it’s powered with AMD’s latest Ryzen 7 5800X or Ryzen 5 5600X processor. These two are currently some of the most popular (gaming) CPUs in the market, thanks to their efficiency and performance. The Ryzen CPU is paired with a GeForce RTX 3070 or RTX 3060 respectively. On paper, the MEK HERO G1 gaming PCs look promising. Check out more details below.

AMD-Powered Zotac MEK HERO G1 Gaming PC Unleashed

There are two variants for the Zotac MEK HERO G1 series – the A5837 and A5636. Both ZOTAC MEK HERO G1 A5636 and G1 A5837 gaming desktops are built from a sturdy, compact minimalistic Micro ATX chassis. The chassis features a 4mm-thick tempered glass side panel, with magnetic and hinged. There are also easy-to-access USB and audio ports located at the top-front of the chassis. As for cooling, they’re preinstalled with three 120mm RGB intake cooling fans located at the front, and a single 120mm exhaust fan at the rear.

The CPU is paired with a Crucial Ballistix DDR4 16GB memory clocked at 3200MHz. The motherboard looks OEM, but it has 4 DIMM slots, meaning you can upgrade the memory in case you need more. Zotac is also using a Seagate M.2 NVMe SSD and HDD for storage, and an 80-Plus Gold certified PSU. Based on the marketing photos, it looks like Zotac is using Thermaltake’s TOUGHPOWER PSU series. The MEK HERO series comes preinstalled with Windows 10 Home Edition and is Windows 11 ready.

Each of the MEK HERO systems is designed, assembled, cable managed and hand-tested in the US for optimal system performance and reliability. Now let’s talk about what sets these two variants apart.

Zotac MEK HERO G1 A5837 Ryzen 5800X with RTX 3070 Prebuilt Gaming PC

The higher-end MEK HERO G1 A5837 is powered by AMD’s Ryzen 7 5800X. It’s an 8-core 16-thread processor with a boost clock speed of up to 4.7GHz. If you’re updated with the latest news, you’re probably aware that these Ryzen 5000 series CPUs were (almost) always out of stock these previous months, due to very high demand. It was only recently, these past few weeks that AMD was able to keep up with the demand.

The Ryzen 5800X is cooled by an EK 240D-RGB AIO CPU liquid cooler with a 240mm radiator. This is an eye-catching CPU cooler if you ask me. The radiator is placed at the top panel so that cool air would be coming at the front; while hot air is exhausted at the top and rear.

When it comes to its graphics processing power, the CPU is paired with a GeForce RTX 3070 graphics card. Based on our review of the RTX 3070, this is a good graphics card for 1080p to 1440p (high-refresh rate) gaming.

Zotac MEK HERO G1 A5636 Ryzen 5600X with RTX 3060 Prebuilt Gaming PC

If you don’t have 2 grand to spend on a prebuilt gaming PC, the MEK HERO G1 A5636 is the next option. This one is powered by a 6-core 12-thread Ryzen 5 5600X processor. It’s also an excellent gaming CPU that can compete well against Intel’s 6-core “gaming” CPUs.

This time, the CPU is not cooled by an AIO liquid CPU cooler or any third-party CPU air cooler. But the Ryzen 5600X is just cooled by AMD’s Wraith Stealth stock CPU cooler, with no RGB lighting. The CPU cooler is fine and serviceable, but I wish Zotac partnered with Noctua for air cooling on this one.

Finally, the Ryzen 5600X is paired with a GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card. It’s an excellent GPU for 1080p gaming and “good-enough” for 1440p gaming as well. You can check out our review of the RTX 3060 here to learn more about its performance.

Most probably, Zotac will be using their graphics cards for these two prebuild gaming PCs.
