Zotac MEK1 BIOS and Software
The Zotac MEK1’s BIOS interface looks nice, but there’s little thing you can do from here. You can’t overclock the CPU anyway, what you get instead are the essential things that are found in the BIOS, like the options you see from the photos here.
There’s an OC section, but you can only enable or disable the Turbo boost. The Intel Core i7-7700 is a lock CPU after all, and I don’t recommend that you install an i7-7700K on this motherboard since it’s only a B250 motherboard. You can also check what components are installed on the system as well as monitor the systems health from here.
Power and boot options can also be found here if you need some adjustments. And finally there’s the save, exit or restore to default settings on the last menu. Now let’s see what installed on the MEK1.
Right out of the box, I’m glad to see that there’s no bloatware installed. It’s just a clean Windows 10 Home, by the way you’ll have to initialize it (set up Windows) on the first boot. As you can see from the screenshot above, there’s not a single software or bloatware installed. Zotac didn’t even pre-installed their utility.
The utility can be found on the USB drive. The drive contains the Spectra software for the lighting effect, Zotac’s FireStorm for controlling and monitoring the graphics card and the NVIDIA GeForce driver. I recommend that you download the latest version of GeForce driver for GTX 1070 Ti from NVIDIA’s site instead. And that’s all! No other bloatware or subscription-ware at all.
