Recently, @Apisak from Twitter tweeted a CPU-Z screenshot revealing the CPU single thread and multi-thread score of the upcoming 12th gen Intel Core i7-1200K Alder Lake CPU. Unlike previous generations of CPUs, the 12th Gen Alder Lake processors feature a hybrid design. In particular, the Core i7-1200K has a total of 12 cores; 8 performance cores and 4 efficient cores, and 20 threads. And finally, it’s no longer based on the 14nm fab process. Instead, Intel is using a 10nm Enhanced SuperFin for these new CPUs. Check out the results below.
Intel Core i7-1200K CPU-Z Benchmarked – Huge Improvement?
Based on the leaked CPU-Z screenshot, the Intel Core i7-12700K scored around 800 points in the single-thread test. That’s almost a 40% increase from the Core i7-10700K, or around 25% increase from AMD’s Ryzen 7 5800X. The Ryzen 9 5900X and 5950X have a single thread score of around 670-680, making the i7-12700K around 18% faster than both CPUs.
Meanwhile, it got around 9400 points in the multi-threaded score, making it substantially faster than both 10700K and 5800X. However, Both the 5900X and 5950X have a higher score in CPU multi-thread compared to the 12700K, at around ~11000 points and ~9500 points respectively.
Below is a CPU-Z benchmark screenshot of my Ryzen 7 5800X. Its performance is somewhat similar to that of Intel’s i9-11900K based on this test alone.
This is only one type of benchmark and it won’t be able to give us a broader sense of the CPUs capability, or a general overview of the CPU’s performance. Nevertheless, these results show promising results.
