Two Asus gaming laptops – the ASUS TUF Gaming A15 and A17 (2023), are now available. These two laptops are powered with AMD‘s latest Ryzen 7000HS processors based on the latest Zen 4 architecture. Since these are gaming laptops, expect that they come with a discrete GPU in the form of NVIDIA‘s latest RTX 40 series laptop GPU. However, the Asus TUF Gaming (2023) laptops are only available with up to an RTX 4070 laptop GPU. Unlike the ROG Strix gaming laptops, the TUF Gaming models are cheaper. Asus TUF Gaming A15 and A17 (2023) Gaming Laptops Features
For 2023, Asus has included the latest hardware from its partners on all of our models. With AMD Ryzen™ Zen 4 processors, increasing core counts to new heights, and the GeForce RTX™ 40 Series Laptop GPUs from NVIDIA offer incredible rasterization performance and a range of additional features like DLSS 3 and AV1 encoding. The 2023 ASUS TUF Gaming A15 and TUF Gaming A17 come equipped with up to an AMD Ryzen 9 Zen 4 processor, leveraging incredible gaming performance with serious battery endurance. These models sport up to the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX™ 40 Series Laptop GPUs with G-SYNC® support and feature a max TGP of 140 W with Dynamic Boost. This pairing of high-powered CPUs and high-performance mobile GPUs delivers incredible gaming performance in all the latest titles.
When it comes to design, the 2023 TUF Gaming A15 and A17 feature a redesigned chassis that is now 4.5 smaller than the previous design. It has an industrial or rugged design in color gray. Unlike the ROG Strix gaming laptops, the TUF Gaming laptops are conservative regarding RGB lighting. Only its keyboard features mini-LED RGB lighting, with the WASD keys highlighted.
The Display, Storage and Memory
The 2023 Asus TUF A15 and A17 gaming laptops are built with a QHD 165Hz display. It supports NVIDIA G-SYNC that synchronizes the display’s refresh rate with the GPU’s output to reduce lag, minimize stuttering, and eliminate visual tearing for ultra-smooth and lifelike gameplay. The QHD panel hits 100% of the DCI-P3 color space, reproducing colors exactly as the creator intended. Packed into an impressive 80% screen-to-body frame, videos and games are more immersive without sacrificing portability.
Aside from an AMD Ryzen Zen 4 CPU or RTX 40 series laptop GPU, the 2023 TUF Gaming laptops feature expandable storage and can be configured with up to 2TB of PCIe M.2 SSD. It can also accommodate up to 32GB of DDR5 memory clocked at 4800MHz, making everything from multitasking to multimedia rendering run fast and smooth.
NVIDIA Advanced Optimus
The 2023 TUF Gaming A15 and A17 also feature NVIDIA Advanced Optimus. With this feature, the laptop can automatically route frames from the discrete GPU directly to the display using a MUX switch, bypassing the integrated graphics. This pathing improves performance by 5-10% compared to machines without a MUX Switch. This automatic switching also preserves the machine’s battery life, as it can dynamically transition between the high-power discrete GPU and the lower-power integrated GPU.
Cooling Solution
The TUF Gaming A15 and A17 2023 gaming laptops are equipped to handle the high-power CPU with a pair of 84-blade Arc Flow Fans. Asus’ new variable thickness design has the dual benefit of increasing pressure while reducing turbulence, improving cooling performance without the extra noise. When paired with up to four exhaust vents and five dedicated heat pipes, these laptops keep it cool in even the most demanding games.
