On a recent online event, Sony has finally revealed the price and release date for one of the most anticipated game consoles to be released this year – the Sony PlayStation 5. We already know that Sony’s PS5 will drop this fall. But we don’t know the exact date and its price. Well, Sony finally revealed it, and unlike NVIDIA’s flagship graphics card, the RTX 3080, the PS5 is $200 USD cheaper. More details below.
Sony PS5 Price and Release Date Announced
Long story short, the full version Sony PS5, the one with a Blu-ray disc, comes with an MSRP of $499.99 or €499.99. Meanwhile, the PS5 Digital Edition, the one that doesn’t have a Blu-ray drive, not to mention it looks aesthetically better than the other one, comes with a retail price of $399.99 or €399.99.
Aside from the better symmetrical aesthetics, the PS5 Digital Edition is more attractive and affordable than the standard one. What do you think? Both the standard and digital edition are similar when it comes to specs. Only the Blu-ray drive is left out.
Both versions of PS5 are expected to be released on November 12th for the US, Canada, Japan, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea. Meanwhile, for the rest of the world, the PS5 will be released on November 19th.
Right now, I am very positive that the PS5 will sell almost instantly. And getting one from the first batch would be extremely difficult. Just like what happened to the recently released GeForce RTX 3080 graphics cards. Not to mention, I’m pretty sure scalpers will take advantage of the situation as well.
Which one are you planning to get this fall or holiday season? I’m positive that most of our readers are on the PC master race; and will most like get the latest RTX 30 series card and/or AMD’s Ryzen Zen 3 CPUs. But I think the PS5 is looking good, especially with the upcoming games.
