Asus Dual GeForce RTX 4060 Ti SSD Graphics Card Now Official

Teased several times before, Asus officially announced its Dual GeForce RTX 4060 Ti SSD graphics card. If the naming of this graphics card confuses you, don’t worry. It’s just a graphics card with an M.2 SSD slot on its back-side portion. If you are unaware, NVIDIA’s RTX 4060 and 4060 Ti don’t use the full x16 PCIe interface. They only use x8, so there are unused lanes. So, for those extra lanes not to go to waste, Asus slapped an M.2 slot on the graphics card. Asus says it is “the first graphics card in the world to include an M.2 NVMe drive slot, optimized for enhanced thermal performance”. More details below.

ASUS Announces Dual GeForce RTX 4060 Ti SSD Graphics Card

The ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4060 Ti SSD comes with an M.2 NVMe slot and a pre-installed thermal pad, allowing users to utilize the graphics card heatsink more effectively. If both the motherboard and NVMe drive support PCIe 5.0, the drive will operate at PCIe 5.0 speeds. ASUS testing indicates a temperature reduction of up to 6°C compared to an NVMe drive installed on a motherboard.

Reimagined M.2 storage

This card shares the impressive features of the ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB. It incorporates third-generation RT Cores and fourth-generation Tensor Cores, featuring DLSS 3.5 and frame generation for captivating real-time ray tracing experiences. The sleek 2.5-slot design, requiring only a single 8-pin PCIe® power connector, ensures compatibility with various builds.

The standout feature is a discreet cutout on the card’s rear, offering support for M.2 2280-sized NVMe drives. This makes the Dual GeForce RTX 4060 Ti SSD the first consumer graphics card with an onboard SSD slot. When an M.2 drive is attached, it can replace the CPU’s M.2 slot on the motherboard, presenting compelling reasons to switch to a GPU-mounted M.2 solution.

Compact cooling performance

The RTX 4060 Ti is a PCIe 4.0-compliant GPU, but when both the motherboard and NVMe drive support PCIe 5.0, the drive operates at full PCIe 5.0 speed. ASUS suggests placing the Dual GeForce RTX 4060 Ti SSD in the top PCIe slot for direct CPU communication, avoiding game performance hits, and storing read/write penalties.

Installing the drive directly on the motherboard might seem logical, but the Dual GeForce RTX 4060 Ti SSD comes with dual Axial-tech fans that not only cool the card during gameplay but also reduce M.2 drive temperatures. The drive connects to the graphics card heatsink with a pre-mounted thermal pad in the M.2 slot, offering substantial cooling potential. ASUS testing showed temperatures up to 40% lower than standard motherboard M.2 slots, ensuring extended read/write performance and long-term stability.

Pricing and Availability

Asus has not yet disclosed its manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the Dual RTX 4060 Ti SSD graphics card. However, if I have to guess, it would be slightly more expensive than the regular RTX 4060 Ti Dual graphics cards.
