The Best KEF HiFi Speakers Are Currently Discounted Amidst Christmas Sale

best kef hifi speakers

If you plan to get one of KEF‘s HiFi speakers, you’re in luck. During this holiday/Christmas sale season, we noticed several of KEF’s popular speakers are having a (huge) sale. The sale includes KEF’s wireless speakers, bookshelf speakers, and floorstanding speakers. However, I don’t see KEF’s subwoofers being discounted (yet). These speakers are discounted when publishing this article, although I don’t know how long the sale will last. It could be during the Christmas season or until supply lasts. Below are the KEF speakers we spotted that are having a sale.

KEF LSX II Wireless HiFi Speaker System

KEF LSX II Wireless HiFi Speaker Front and Back

The KEF LSX II is a small and compact wireless speaker system, measuring only 9.5 inches in height and 6.1 inches in width. It weighs a total of 15.6 lbs (set) and is available in several unique and striking colors. It features a Uni-Q driver array with a 19mm aluminum dome drive for the high frequency and a 115mm magnesium/aluminum alloy cone driver for the mid and low frequencies. Finally, it supports up to 192kHz/24bit or up to 1.411Mbps PCM via HDMI.

The LSX II Wireless is an active speaker system with a Class D amplifier per speaker driver. It supports multiple connectivity options, wired and wireless. For wired connections, it supports analog and digital inputs, and it even has an ethernet port. For wireless connection, it uses Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, supporting both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, and Bluetooth 4.2. Since the LSX II is wireless, it features streaming features and supports various streaming services.

Since the LSX II Wireless speaker has a compact body, don’t expect it to have powerful, deep-sounding bass. The LSX II excels in clarity and details, imaging, and overall excellent sound quality for its size. You can add a KEF subwoofer if you need more bass presence. Despite being small, it is loud enough to fill a small or decent-sized room.

KEF LS50 Meta Bookshelf Speakers

KEF LS50 Meta Passive Bookshelf Speakers

Now, if you have your dedicated DAC and Amplifier and you only need a set of passive bookshelf speakers, KEF’s LS50 Meta is also currently discounted. This is usually slightly more expensive than the LSX II Wireless, but they are presently priced similarly at the time of writing. The LS50 Meta features KEF’s 12th gen Uni-Q driver, and it looks similar to the LSX II but is available in a different color theme.

The LS50 Meta does not have a built-in amplifier, nor does it have any wireless connectivity features. It is a bookshelf speaker that needs to be connected to a system. However, it features a larger 25mm driver for the high frequencies and a 130mm driver for the mids and low frequencies, making the LS50 Meta an excellent choice for mid to large-sized rooms.

Depending on the source (DAC/AMP) you use, it may affect the overall sound and tonality of the LS50 Meta. The LS50 Meta produces a loud but detailed natural sound with very low distortion. Others may describe its sound as smooth, but it is definitely controlled. Again, if you need more bass, adding a dedicated subwoofer would help.

KEF Q950 Floorstanding Speakers

KEF Q950 Floorstanding Speaker

For those looking for a floorstanding speakers for the living room or a large room, KEF’s Q950 floorstander speaker is also currently discounted. The Q950 is KEF’s flagship 2.5-way speaker featuring a Uni-Q driver, twin ABRs, and a big bass driver. The enhanced driver array is designed to smooth out treble frequencies, eliminating harsh tones; and reimagined crossovers to provide a more accurate and cleaner bass.

The KEF Q950 is usually used for a home theater setup or for a personal/private listening room. Compared to the speakers listed above, the Q950 is on a different level. It is louder, delivers clean and crisp sound, and brings life to hi-res music. It’s also an excellent speaker for watching movies, especially if you have a large OLED TV like Sony’s A80L. However, just like the LS50 Meta, this is a passive speaker that needs a good source (DAC/AMP) or system.

KEF LS60 Wireless Floorstanding Speaker System

KEF LS60 Wireless System

Finally, if you’re looking for an active floorstanding speaker system, or you want a floor stander speaker like the Q950 but you also want it to have a built-in amplifier and all the connectivity features similar to the LSX II Wireless, KEF got you covered with its LS60 Wireless Floorstanding speaker. And like the other speakers in this list, it is also currently discounted.

The KEF LS60 Wireless speaker system does not come cheap. The good news is that not only does it sound fantastic, dynamic, and lively, but the LS60 is also loaded with features. It has a Uni-Q Driver array with a 19mm driver for high frequencies and a 100mm for mid frequencies. It also has a Uni-Core Force Canceling driver: four 135mm for the low frequencies. Low and mid frequencies use a class D amplifier, while high-frequency drivers use a class AB amplifier.

It can support up to 24bit/384kHz audio and 24bit/96kHz for wireless connectivity. Since it features wired and wireless connectivity options, the LS60 also supports streaming services and can be paired with other LS wireless series speakers. The LS60 is excellent for modern homes that utilize streaming or if you want a stylish, clean, and modern-looking setup.
