By the way, if you are unfamiliar with the difference between an RTX 4070 laptop GPU and a desktop RTX 4070, these two GPUs are not the same. The RTX 4070 laptop GPU does not perform similarly to its desktop counterpart. NVIDIA just named and marketed it that way. The laptop version is noticeably slower than its desktop counterpart. And the RTX 4070 laptop GPU performs similarly to a desktop RTX 3070 Ti, more or less.
ASUS ROG Strix G16 (2023) Gaming Laptop – Overall Top Pick
The Asus ROG Strix G16 is currently the best RTX 4070 gaming laptop to get, or at least it is one of the most popular laptops in the market. It is powered by a 24-core Intel Core i9-13980HX laptop CPU, 16GB of DDR5 memory, and 1TB SSD. The memory can support up to 32GB of capacity. It also comes with essential connectivity options from USB 3.2, and Thunderbolt 4 to Wi-Fi 6E. The only thing that is a bummer with this laptop is its 720p webcam.
I have yet to discuss its display because there are two variants of the ROG Strix G16: the cheaper G614JI-AS94 and the slightly more expensive G614JI-XS96. The G614JI-AS94 has a Full HD resolution with a 165Hz refresh rate. It only has 16GB DDR5 and 1TB PCIe SSD. Meanwhile, the G614JI-XS96 has a much better ROG Nebula display with a resolution of QHD+. The display on this variant is noticeably better, much better, similar to the ROG Zephyrus M16 (below). If you can stretch your budget a bit more, or the price difference is just slight by the time you land on this page, I’d recommend the G614JI-XS96 over the other model.

Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 8 RTX 4070 Gaming Laptop
Lenovo has greatly improved its gaming laptops over the years. Before, they were only popular or known for their productivity laptops. But their latest Legion gaming laptops are competitive and loaded with features designed to cater to gamers. Lenovo’s Legion Pro 5i is just one of its many gaming laptops. It is a 16″ gaming laptop powered by a 24-core Intel Core i9-13900HX (8-P cores, 16-E cores), paired with a GeForce RTX 4070 laptop GPU.
The Legion Pro 5i features Lenovo’s tested and proven keyboard, which was popular on the ThinkPad series but has RGB lighting this time. It also has several connectivity options; most are located at the back right of the laptop. A 108p FHD webcam sits at the top of the 16″ 2560×1600 IPS display with a refresh rate of 240Hz. It has Wi-Fi 6E 2×2 and BT 5.x for wireless connectivity.
Unlike the Asus ROG Strix gaming laptop, Lenovo’s Legion 5i isn’t a head-turner. Its “gamer-viber” is a bit muted, and it doesn’t have an aggressive look. However, it does come with RGB lighting. Still, the external look and aesthetics feel and look like the typical ThinkPad laptop.

MSI Katana 15 B13V Gaming Laptop
First is MSI’s Kata 15 B13V, a 15.6″ gaming laptop with a 1080p 144Hz display powered by an RTX 4070 laptop GPU. Although, I am unsure what’s the power limit of the laptop’s GPU. Powering the Katana 15 is an Intel Core i7-13620H, a 10-core CPU (6-P + 4-E) with 16 threads. It’s not as powerful as the Core i9s above, so expect that gaming performance is not as fast as the most premium one.
The variant Katana 15 B13VGK-484US has 16GB DDR5 memory and 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD. Its connectivity options are Wi-Fi 6 with BT 5.2, and up to USB 3.2 Gen 1, with no Thunderbolt 4 support. Its keyboard is the only part on this laptop that has RGB lighting. It’s a good RTX 4070 gaming laptop, but don’t expect much from it as it is not as fast or feature-rich as the ones listed above.
