MSI CreatorPro X17 HX Laptop with 13th Gen Intel CPU and NVIDIA RTX Ada Laptop GPU – “The First Choice for Professionals”

According to MSI, the CreatorPro series is a powerful and performance-driven workstation laptop; providing a top-notch solution for all professionals in many fields, such as architects, programmers, and designers.

CPU and GPU

A 13th gen Intel Core i9 processor powers the said workstation laptop. The Core i9-13980HX has a total of 24 cores, of which 8 are performance cores, 16 are efficient cores; and has 32 threads, with a maximum turbo speed of 5.60GHz.

The CPU is paired with NVIDIA RTX 5000 Ada generation Laptop GPU (AD103). It has a 175 watts TGP for maximum power. It also features dynamic boost for a total of 230W of power for the GPU and GPU. The RTX 5000 Ada laptop GPU has 9728 CUDA cores, 304 Tensor cores, and has a boost clock speed of around 2.19GHz.

The NVIDIA RTX 5000 Ada generation Laptop GPU has 16GB of GDDR6 memory, with a memory clock of 18Gbps running on a 256-bit memory interface. The RTX 5000 Ada laptop GPU is capable of up to 42.6 TFLOPs of single precision and up to 681.8 TFLOPs of tensor performance.

Memory and Storage

When it comes to memory, you don’t have to worry about running out of memory. This workstation laptop can handle even the most memory-intensive applications (like Chrome) thanks to its 128GB of DDR5 memory. Okay, I was joking about Chrome, but seriously, with 128GB of memory, video editing and other memory-dependent applications wouldn’t be an issue. It has four memory slots, similar to a desktop motherboard.

As for storage, it has a total of three M.2 slots; two are PCIe Gen4 M.2 and one PCIe Gen5 M.2 slot. You can install three 8TB M.2 SSDs for a total of 24TB of storage. However, HIDEvolution, an authorized MSI build-to-order dealer, has a 32TB storage configuration. I don’t know how they did that, but that’s already a lot of storage space.

Display and Features

The MSI CreatorPro X17 HX workstation laptop has one of the best displays on a laptop. It has a 17.3-inch display with a resolution of 3840×2160, resulting in a super crisp >220 pixel per inch density. Not only that, it uses a miniLED IPS panel with a 144Hz refresh rate and supports true HDR1000 (1000 nits of brightness).

Content creators would be glad to know that it has a typical 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, and the display is factory calibrated with a Delta-E of < 2 out of the box. It also features True Color technology, True Pixel Display and is calman verified for exceptional color accuracy.

Whether you are photo/video editing, coding, gaming, or consuming media, the CreatorPro X17’s display can handle it all.

Just note that MSI also released a 17.3″ QHD version with a 240Hz refresh rate. However, I have yet to see this variant listed in retail stores. Regardless, I would still choose the 4K display over the QHD display.

Unlike MSI’s Titan GT77 HX, the CreatorPro doesn’t use a mechanical keyboard. However, it still features per-key RGB lighting. It also has a fingerprint sensor for security, supports dTPM 2.0 and fTPM 2.0, and its 720p webcam has a physical shutter.

Regarding connectivity options, it has WiFi 6E with BT 5.3 for wireless and Killer 2.5Gb for Ethernet (LAN) connection. The CreatorPro X17 HX also has several USB ports, including Thunderbolt 4; and other creator-centric ports like SD Express card reader, HDMI out, and miniDP port.

Based on paper alone, the MSI CreatorPro X17 HX looks like it is one of the best workstation laptops you can get this year. Powerful hardware combined with an excellent set of features makes this machine a robust workstation laptop for creative professionals. You can check out the rest of its specifications below.
