We are in the age of “thicc” and “big chungus” graphics cards, where a 4-slot or 3-slot graphics card is “normal”. Gone are the days when a single-slot card is an option. Even an entry-level graphics card is already a 2-slot or even 2.5-slot thick. MSI has recently announced its latest SLIM Series graphics card, where the 4060 Ti 16GB and 4070 are 46mm thick, and the 4070 Ti is 51 mm thick. An RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 Slim cards are also in the way, but I expect higher temps than their 3-4 slot counterparts. MSI’s RTX 4060 Ti 16GB, RTX 4070, and RTX 4070 Ti SLIM cards are now available. Slim design, mighty action
GAMING SLIM is available in both black and white versions, embodying GAMING characteristics through bold lines, clean edges, RGB hues on a sleek appearance, and a ventilation cutout in the backplate. Despite its slim profile, its advanced thermal capability isn’t compromised. The cooling system, driven by MSI’s current-generation thermal solution, TRI FROZR 3, incorporates TORX FAN 5.0 with pairs of three fan blades connected by an outer link.
This design forms a rim that directs airflow into the updated thermal module underneath. The system also features a nickel-plated copper baseplate and up to 8 Core Pipes at the heart of the heatsink, effectively dissipating heat. Furthermore, a metal backplate with a flow-through opening enhances heat dissipation and strength. Mystic Light synchronizes exterior illumination with the PC using Mystic Light Sync and Ambient Link technologies.

MSI’s GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, RTX 4070, and RTX 4070 Ti Slim graphics cards are now available. The 4060 Ti Slim and 4070 Slim cards currently retail for around $510 and $660, respectively. No word on the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 Gaming Slim cards yet.
