It is also built with the latest components from Intel and NVIDIA, paired with an Ultra-HD OLED display. If you are in the market looking for that powerhouse laptop capable of multi-tasking for productivity / multimedia purposes, and gaming and streaming as well, the Asus Zenbook Pro Duo UX581 is currently the best that the market has to offer. Check out more details below to learn more about this laptop.
Asus ZenBook Pro Duo UX581 Dual Screen Laptop Features
Asus calls the Zenbook Pro Duo as the “laptop of tomorrow”. But it’s here, today, it is the laptop of the present time. True, it is a very unique laptop with the dual screen and currently we don’t see other laptop manufacturers (Lenovo, Dell, etc.) releasing a dual screen laptop of their own any time soon.
Like most modern-day laptops, the Asus ZenBook Pro Duo is still a laptop; powered with the latest Intel Core processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX discrete graphics processor. The unique thing about it is its dual screen display. Asus calls the secondary display as ScreenPad Plus. It’s not really an extension of the primary display (although it can serve as an extension); but rather a secondary display that can run apps and other functions in conjunction with the main display. Think of it as a much larger and better Touch Bar on Apple’s MacBook Pro. Speaking of Apple, they definitely need to innovate and come up something “new” other than their touch bar.
The main display on the Asus ZenBook Pro Duo is a 15.6″ OLED display with a resolution of 3840×2160 (4K UHD) and an aspect ratio of 16:9. It is 100% DCI-P3, 133% sRGB, Pantone validated display with DisplayHDR certification; expect that the colors on this dual screen laptop is fantastic and accurate. This makes the ZenBook Pro Duo a great laptop for photo and video editors or any multi-media work and consumption as well.
Meanwhile, the secondary display or the ScreenPad Plus is a 14″ 4K display with a resolution of 3840×1100. It’s no longer an OLED display but it is a touch screen display with a wide viewing angle. Asus includes a pen in the box that you can use on the second display. You can really do a lot of things with this laptop that you can’t with other laptops or Ultrabooks.
Also, thanks to its NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 discrete graphics processor, you can play games on the ZenBook Pro Duo UX581 just like any other gaming laptop. And since there is an additional display, you can use the secondary display for other applications; like your live-streaming window, chat notification, a window for a game guide, and etc. Words aren’t enough to demonstrate what this laptop can do. The video below will demonstrate what other things this dual screen laptop can do.
Of course, the Asus ZenBook Pro Duo is not a perfect laptop and it has its limitations or cons as well. First let’s talk about specs. Currently, graphics processor is limited to an RTX 2060 only. Currently, there is no ZenBook Pro Duo configuration that comes with an RTX 2070 or higher GPU. There is a decent amount of connectivity and storage options though, you can see them on the specs sheet below. You might want to use an external GPU with the ZenBook Pro Duo if you want a much faster GPU.
It’s also not the thinnest nor lightest laptop around. This dual screen laptop weighs 2.5 Kgs, it’s definitely not light; but not the heaviest we have seen as well. It also runs somewhat hot, especially the Core i9 variant at full load. The secondary display and the touch numeric display is uncommon, so a learning curve or adjustment from the user is expected. Finally, this laptop is not cheap and would cost you north of two thousand dollars. You can check out the links below for the latest pricing and availability.
This dual screen laptop is definitely not for everyone. But I don’t think the cons or things that you may need to consider outweighs the benefits and features that this laptop has to offer. Ultimately, it all boils down to what you really need in a laptop and your budget. The only questions are; if this laptop will improve your workflow, make you more productive or fits your preference / taste. If your answer is a yes, then you might want to consider getting one.
