Noctua NH-D12L chromax.black CPU Cooler Released, Compatible with Intel LGA 1851 Socket for Arrow Lake-S CPUs

Noctua recently released an all-black version of its award-winning NH-D12L CPU air cooler – meet the new Noctua NH-D12L chromax.black. The NH-D12L chromax.black CPU air cooler is somewhat similar to Noctua’s flagship dual-tower CPU air cooler, the NH-D15 (chromax.black), except that it’s slightly slimmer, shorter, and offers better compatibility than the flagship model. According to the company, it fits inside narrower tower cases and even 4U enclosures. It can even handle hot-running CPUs, like the Intel Core i9-14900KS. Aside from the current Intel and AMD sockets, it will support the upcoming socket LGA 1851 for the 15th gen Intel Arrow Lake-S desktop processors. It’s now available with an MSRP of $99. Noctua Releases NH-D12L chromax.black CPU Air Cooler for $99 MSRP

Noctua has added a new all-black version of the NH-D12L 120mm CPU cooler to its chromax.black series. This model maintains the effective cooling and low noise levels of the original, now featuring black fans and a black-coated heatsink for a subtle appearance.

The NH-D12L chromax.black is a low-profile 120mm CPU cooler from Noctua, now available in an all-black design. This version offers the same excellent cooling and quiet operation as the original NH-D12L but comes in black, including the heatsink, fan, anti-vibration pads, fan clips, and mounting parts. The black coating is optimized to maintain the cooler’s high performance when cooling quietly.

It is just 145mm tall, making it shorter than Noctua’s standard 120mm coolers by 13mm. This size allows it to fit into many 4U cases and slim tower cases that usually only accommodate 92mm fan coolers. Despite its compact size, its dual-tower design with five heatpipes and an advanced 120mm NF-A12x25r fan ensures it performs as well as, or better than, larger 120mm coolers. Its design with a single fan and offset fins ensures it doesn’t block RAM slots, making it fully compatible with RAM on AMD AM5/AM4 and Intel LGA1851/1700/1200 motherboards.

Like most, if not all, of Noctua’s CPU coolers, the NH-D12L chromax.black comes with the trusted SecuFirm2™ mounting system, the highly regarded NT-H1 thermal paste, and a 6-year warranty from the manufacturer. It’s an ideal cooler for systems needing strong cooling but doesn’t have space for the bigger NH-U12A.

According to Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO):
“The NH-D12L has become a popular choice for compact, high performance builds in cases like the Lian Li O11 Dynamic or the DAN C4-SFX ”. “With the new chromax.black version, we’re now giving customers the option to leverage the NH-D12L’s renowned quiet cooling performance in all-black systems.”
